The illustrations on the pedals prompt questions like, 'Wait, are all of these hand-drawn?' Well, there's no time for that kind of thing (laughs). It's a special bonus. Just like the surprise you might find inside the box with the serial number, consider it a playful 'doodle.' Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not. I often draw when I'm taking notes, maybe initially during slow work times, like 'Let's try drawing something.' I don't remember exactly. The first time I drew a cat was for a simple reason—it's easy, and I liked drawing. Besides, who doesn't like cats, right? Yes, when I visited Japan and saw a cafe with cats (a cat cafe), I was surprised. I had never seen that in America. Drawing on metal was challenging at first, but it takes less than a minute to draw a cat.

I also love cooking, and when I make pizza, I go out to pick mushrooms. I enjoy both the act of creating and learning how to create. Whether it's music, art, pottery, or even making candles, I do it all. I even create kits that seem like magic spells. I'm a witch, you know. My grandmother was a witch, and I grew up in that kind of environment (laughs). Oh, but don't worry, I'm not the kind that requires sacrifices. I love making things, and there's joy in it. Even when I'm in a bad mood, painting can lift my spirits. Creativity is a form of healing too.
EQD is an incredibly open company, allowing us to behave artistically. It's clear they're trying to create a fun environment by utilizing everyone's talents. There are many books in the lounge area and break room, and we even have guitars and amps, so you can play instruments. Art is displayed throughout the office. While we have work to do, it's a very enjoyable place. Most people are musicians, and there are many naturally creative individuals. When such people come together in the same building, it naturally becomes a fun environment. I think that's how music and art are born. EQD's creativity comes naturally from the environment that fosters it. Everyone is incredibly open and kind. Even if people have different preferences in their favorite music genres, there's a common ground, and you can be yourself.
I never feel like work is stagnating. Today, I used a drill to assemble pedals. Instead of doing one thing at my desk all day, I'm always doing various things, which brings freshness and fun. Everyone receives training to work in various departments, so, for example, even if someone is on vacation, there's always someone who can step in. Isn't that great? It's evident that Jamie and Julie make sure we can work in a healthy and happy environment, both mentally and physically. Resources for that are open, and the company even organizes lectures on racial and sexuality issues. That's the kind of company it is. That's why I always have a good time, and even during challenging times, everyone supports each other. It truly feels like a “family.”
